Night Light Storybook Project
Project Description For the Night Light Storybook Project Art, Humanities, and Physics, classes were combined. For this project Mrs. Sara and Mr. Ted decided that we the students should be able to work with the Monarch School. Mrs. Sara and Mr. Ted paired us up with a partner or two in order for us to do this project. What is Monarch School? Monarch School is school exclusively for students who are homeless. In this project my classmates and I have been working with a group of 1st graders. We have taken a variety of Field Trips to their school, where we have been getting to know them better and asking them questions for example: "What's your favorite Color?" "What's your favorite Animal?" etc. Night Light Buddy When I first met my little buddy I was really nervous because I didn't know what to expect. When I had first walked into the room my little buddy said out loud that she wanted me as her buddy. And I told her that I was her little buddy. She got so excited, that she started hugging me. She lead me to her table and said that we should color together. And at the end of the day she said that she didn't want me to leave. So that's when she started asking me "When are you coming back?" and I said next week. So from all of the questions that we had asked our little buddy, we have been designing/building a Night Light for our little buddy. Night Light Design My little buddy Abigayle, told me she loves Wonder Woman so my group and I have been designing a Night Light for her including all of her favorite colors and likes. My group and I went over all of the things that she liked and we made drafts and drafts of different things that she liked. When my little buddy decided what drawing she wanted we started to make cardboard prototypes of that image. What are prototypes? A prototype is a first, typical or preliminary model of something, especially a machine, from which other forms are developed or copied. When my group and I finished the cardboard prototype, we started to move on to the next step which is, the layered paper model. |
