Chain Reaction Project
Project Description
In Mr. Ted's class we have been watching videos about Chain Reactions. We have even been learning about different types of energy's for Ex: (Kinetic, Magnetic, Elastic, etc.). In class we do these things called flippers, and it's just a way of jotting down ideas and getting information from the videos that we have watched. In class we had partners that we would have to work with throughout this project. Each pair from my class had to create a design of how our Chain Reaction wanted to look like. So when my class and I were ready to move on, we got approved by Mr. Ted so he can see if we were ready. In order to make our Chain Reaction we had to include a marble, a magnet, a ball bearing, and at least 10 transitions. Each transition represented a type of energy Ex: (Kinetic, Magnetic, Elastic, etc.).
- Table Description
- 1. There is a stool that is holding a Ziploc cardboard box and a plastic car. (GPE)
- 2. The metal ball goes down through a metal pipe. (KE)
- 3. After it has rolled down it keeps on rolling. (KE)
- 4. It goes through a mini path that is made out of Popsicle sticks. (KE)
- 5. The metal ball keeps on rolling down until it hits a marble. (KE) (GPE)
- 6. After it has hit the marble, the metal ball goes through the lever. (KE)
- 7. When the metal ball has gone through the lever it goes through the toy that Savannah brought. (KE)
- 8. In the toy that Savannah brought there was another metal ball that was attached to a tiny magnet. (KE) (GPE)
- 9. When the metal ball hit the other metal ball with the magnet it started rolling down. (KE) (MPE)
- 10. When the ball stopped rolling, it fell in the Dixie cup. (GPE)
- Chain Reaction Reflection
- 1. Self Reflection: Something that I would do differently next time in order for me to make it more successful is that we should have tested it before we had to actually let go of the metal ball.
- 2. Communication: My partner and I should have communicated more so we can let each other know what we could have brought from home and use it for the Chain Reaction.
- 3. Cooperation: When we had first started this mini project Savannah and I had a different idea, so we decided to combine both ideas and turn them into a whole product.
- 4. Efficiency: I would rate myself as a 9. I do think we used our class time wisely, but I think my partner and I could have done better. I would like to improve by communicating with each other better.
- 5. Mindfulness: I was really focused when we were first drawing the plan out. I was so focused because I was so excited to see how our plan was going to turn out.
- 6. Perseverance: I felt like giving up when my partner and I had ran out of ideas. We kept moving forward by sitting down and thinking of new ideas. If things get challenging for me I can ask my classmates for their thoughts. 7. Growth Mindset: A way that I showed Growth Mindset was when my Chain Reaction didn't work, and I tried new ideas.
